In light of the situation at hand, might I ask everyone help in writing a letter to Senator Camila Harris to ask her to get front line medical professionals the medical protection they need to treat the patients in the ER?
As many of you know one of my family member is an Emergency Physician. The hospital he works for does not have testing kits, N95 masks, or the gear they need to protect themselves from patients. They were told to purchase their own, which was an alarming thing to hear today. These items are not available, and I spent all day trying to find them so he can protect himself and not get the virus as medical providers are getting the virus which is more deadly to them than others, for some reason. I was not successful.
If you would be so kind to share this with others, and to encourage them to write to their congress person to get the Federal Government to release their equipment, I think all of those on the frontline would be extremely grateful.
I’ve composed a short email you can send to our Senator at https://www.harris.senate.gov/contact/email.
We are Southern California residents. Many of us work in the various areas and are working from home, dealing with elder and childcare the best we can. Beside the safety of our families, we are particularly worried about the medical care that our community can provide. Our doctors, nurses and EMTs are working with limited or, in some cases, inadequate protective gear. We are told Covid testing cannot be done because they do not have test kits. Can you help break the logjam in Congress and get our frontline care providers the equipment, testing kits and help they need? Thank you for everything you can do for us.
If you are not in California, please contact your state's congress person to help.
I've also been told that calling works even better, so if you have the time, please do both.
Furthermore, if you have N95 Respiratory masks that are unopened, please donate them to your local hospital. I know of many that desperately need them at this point.
Remember, these are the people who can save your life in a medical emergency, not just for the Covid, but for all emergencies. When they are not protected, they will not be able to protect any of us.
Please share widely.
In appreciation,
Katrina
